NCR Corp. is launching a mobile point of sale consulting service.

The Duluth, Ga., company's new Mobile POS Optimization Consulting Services is part of its Global Consulting Services team.

"There are many elements retailers need to consider when creating a mobile POS strategy that simultaneously delights customers and drives both top and bottom line business results," said Marcia Crosland, director of NCR's retail consulting group, in a press release Jan. 10.

There are possible negative effects of certain approaches to mobile payment acceptance, NCR says. For example, accepting payments in a store's aisles on a tablet could annoy shoppers, the company says. This tactic could also lower revenue by cutting off impulse buys at the checkout line, it says.

"NCR's practice is focused on ensuring the design of the entire shopping experience is maximized through the implementation of mobile POS in order to deliver the most effective consumer experiences possible," Crosland said in the release.
