Youth payments company Oink is partnering with Discover to add scale to Oink's efforts to adapt its online payment system for in-store use.

Oink, formerly Virtual Piggy, enables young people to make payments within parameters set by parents or guardians.

The company has traditionally grown its e-commerce business by partnering with companies that offer retail products, online games and educational materials.

In bringing its payment system to physical stores, Oink is taking a similar path as PayPal, which build its presence online before moving into physical stores. PayPal is also working with Discover to add scale through the card network's infrastructure.
