Payment Alliance International, an ISO and ATM deployer, has signed an agreement with BB&T Corp., a financial-services holding company, to brand more than 130 Rite Aid Corp. ATMs in the Atlanta area.

While PAI will own and operate the ATMs, BB&T customers will see the familiar BB&T brand on the machines, the companies said in a July 30 joint press release.

Louisville, Ky.-based PAI provides ATM services for more than 60,000 retail locations nationwide and was recently selected to provide ATM services for approximately 1,500 Rite Aid locations in the western, central, and southern United States, the release said.

With the Rite Aid placements, Winston-Salem, N.C.-based BB&T will expand its ATM presence in Atlanta without the capital and operating expense usually associated with such an undertaking, according to the release.

The companies expect to deploy all of the additional ATMs in greater Atlanta by the end of the month.

“We are thrilled to help BB&T expand its footprint at conveniently located Rite Aid locations in the Atlanta area where BB&T cardholders can now obtain surcharge free cash at in-store ATMs,” Gregory W. Mercer, PAI senior vice president, said in the release.

“The 130 new ATM locations in Rite Aid stores augment our existing branch and ATM network to provide convenient cash access locations throughout the Atlanta area,” said Brant Standridge, BB&T northern Georgia regional president.
