PayPal has added a new fingerprint identification option to its app for users of Samsung's Galaxy Tab S tablet.
The biometric feature, which PayPal also supports on the Galaxy S5 smartphone, will allow consumers to use the PayPal app without having to enter a username and password.
"Galaxy Tab S users will be able to use their fingerprint to log in and pay at millions of merchants that accept PayPal on mobile and in stores," Matt Gromada, PayPal's director of global product launch, says in a June 27 blog post.
The new app was released to consumers in the U.S. and Canada on June 27. It will be released to markets in Australia, Brazil, Hong Kong and the U.K. later this summer.
The release is PayPal's latest show of support for Samsung hardware. The payments company has also developed an app for the Samsung Gear 2 smartwatch, Android Wear watches such as the new Samsung Gear Live, and the Galaxy S5 phone. PayPal became a payment option for Samsung Apps and Samsung Hub in October.
