Revenue for the first half of 2008 increased nearly 106% for United States-based Planet Payment Inc., which specializes in enabling consumers to choose the currency used in their card transactions, according to an estimate the company issued Monday. Planet Payment estimates that revenue through June should reach about US$14 million (8.8 million euros), up from $6.8 million in the first half of 2007. The company also said in a trading update Monday that its acquisition of iPay, the electronic-commerce processing unit of Pay By Touch Payment Solution Inc., is providing a "significant revenue contribution," as are expanded processing services in the Asia-Pacific region and new customers in China. Planet Payment estimates its processing sales volume through June reached US$285 million, an increase of 63.5% from US$174.3 million during the same period last year. The company hopes to release its full earnings report in September, a Planet Payment spokesperson tells CardLine Global.
