QNB Ltd., formerly known as Qatar National Bank, has launched a promotional campaign to garner more holders of a credit card it cobrands with mobile operator Qtel Ltd., the card issuer announced Dec. 27.

Under the campaign, both companies will offer their customers a chance to earn 25,000 Nojoom points on the first purchase using their new Visa-branded Qtel Nojoom card, according to a press release.

The campaign will run through Jan. 31 and will be applicable to all new and existing cardholders who have not yet used their cards, the press release said.

Nojoom is a customer program that enables members to earn points they may redeem for a range of rewards, a Qtel spokesperson tells PaymentsSource.

Cardholders can earn Nojoom points when using their card for purchases as well as every time they use Qtel services, he adds.

The companies launched the card last December.

“We have completed one year for the card, and the promotional campaign is as much to mark the one-year anniversary as it is to boost the cardmember base,” the spokesperson adds.

Cardholders may redeem the reward points at such retailers as Virgin Megastore, Giant Store, Qatar Cinemas and Qatar Airways Ltd., according to the spokesperson.

The Qtel Nojoom credit card is available without fees to both local and expatriate accountholders as long as they earn at last 2,000 rial (US$550 and 424 euros) and 7,000 rial respectively per year.

The card is available in both gold and platinum versions. Cardholders earn one Nojoom point per 10 rial they spend using a gold card and one Nojoom point per 5 rial they spend with the platinum card.

Gold cardholders who spend 3,500 rial in a month also receive 2,000 bonus Nojoom points, while holders of platinum cards who spend 7,000 rial in a month earn an additional 5,000 Nojoom points.
