RapidValue is tapping emerging mobile communication technology to allow retailers to offer coupons, marketing and other communications tied to payments.

The Pleasanton, Calif.-based company's rBeacon platform will enable retailers to use Bluetooth and beacons to send customers messages as well as catalog videos about store products. The application, which is expected to be released in January, will also include in-store navigation with features such as "click and collect" which enables mobile checkouts through contactless payments to give customers a new experience of shopping, said Dilip Chatulingath, engagement manager of RapidValue Solutions, in a Dec. 12 press release.

The application's Smart store feature will facilitate communication between customers and sales associates by dispatching them to a consumer based on their area of expertise. Furthermore, customers can also receive coupons depending upon where they are located within a store based on context awareness.

This platform is meant to increase a retailer's sales and loyalty programs without end-user input by analyzing store traffic and consumer buying habits.  

RapidValue's new rBeacon product will be launched at the NRF convention next month. The rBeacon will be available on Android and iOS mobile phones.
