Residential rent’s one of the few payment types where checks remain dominant. Property management company RealPage seeks to change that with a new automated phone payment service.
As part of its RealPage Payments product line, Tel-IVR (interactive voice response) will offer an electronic payments platform to process residents' credit and debit card transactions through their telephone via automated prompts.
The Carrollton, Texas-based RealPage is hosted technology delivered via a web-enabled download, to apartment and communities, including payments and other management systems that automate process such as leasing and accounting. Other companies tapping the electronic rental space include Plastiq, which just received a $6 million cash infusion to expand its payments technology, which also includes the ability to pay for art, club memberships and other typical non-card payment types.
