Cabela's Inc. employees are using Sage Mobile Payment card readers to accept payments at the company's bank-sponsored outdoor sales events this summer.
Payments provider Sage North America says Cabela's Club Visa, the bank for the Sidney, Neb.-based outdoors gear provider, also chose Sage North America to be the sole mobile payments processor for the seven Cabela's Club Family Outdoor Days.
Cabela's, a specialty retailer and direct marketer of fishing, camping and related outdoor merchandise, conducts seven Family Outdoor Days each year for Club Visa cardholders.
Sage provides a mobile card reader and a Sage merchant account for Cabela's at the family events, the McLean, Va.-based payments provider states in an Aug. 6 press release.
The mobile card reader operates on iOS, Blackberry and Android devices and is compliant with the Payment Card Industry data security standards, Sage says.
Sage Mobile Payments allows Cabela's to accept payments, email receipts, track cash and view reports, Haley Steinkuhler, event coordinator for Cabela's Club Visa, states in the release.
Cabela's has three more Family Outdoor Days events to host this year in Minnesota, Utah and Nebraska. The company says it dropped a previous mobile card reader prior to choosing Sage, but did not provide the name of the other provider.
Texas-based U.S. Dataworks, a Sage partner, initially introduced Sage to Cabela's.
"Cabela's had an immediate need for a mobile payment acceptance solution that would help them better serve their Family Outdoor Days participants," Marc Palombo, senior vice president at U.S. Dataworks, says in the release.
Sage North America is a unit of U.K.-based Sage Group PLC.
