Mobile payments technology provider SimplyTapp is opening its developer platform to allow card issuers and mobile app developers to quickly integrate Host Card Emulation, a technology that simulates a Near Field Communication contactless payment.
Those who use SimplyTapp's free automated, self-serve platform for incorporating HCE will also receive a $5,000 credit on platform usage fees, the Austin-based company states in a June 23 press release.
"HCE is a new and tremendously empowering feature for card issuers, so it is important that the process of 'getting familiar with' and using the new technology be as friction free and open as possible," Doug Yeager, co-founder and CEO of SimplyTapp, says in the release.
Issuers preferring more of a "hands off" approach to building their HCE solution can develop their pilot programs with SimplyTapp's assistance.
SimplyTapp says it is the first company to allow open innovation in a mobile card issuing space.
SimplyTapp has been a strong advocate of HCE since creating the coding for it to run on modified Android devices about a year before Google Inc. included it in "KitKat," its newest version of the Android mobile operating system.
