Singapore American School has selected The CBord Group Inc.’s CS Gold one-card program to manage the school’s card program that also will meet the needs of Singapore’s contactless marketplace, the Ithaca-based company announced July 27.
The Singapore-based school, which provides an American-based curriculum for 3,800 students in pre-school through grade 12, also plans to issue more than 10,000 cards required for campus entry to parents and other caregivers. The school hopes the card-access system, to be installed this fall, will improve campus security.
The CS Gold one-card system is a modular campus identification card system that integrates an education institution’s auxiliary services including dining purchases, printing, bookstore purchases, library privileges and online account management.
CBord also plans to tailor the card to meet the needs of the Singapore marketplace. The card will employ Singapore’s standard for the country’s Contactless ePurse Application electronic money smart card system, which enables cardholders to use tap-and-go technology on campus as well as make purchases at several off-campus merchants, CBord notes.
The Contactless ePurse Application is a single multipurpose stored-value card used throughout Singapore as payment for services such as transit, taxis, electronic tolls and retail purchases.
