StarHub Ltd., a Singapore-based telecommunications firm, says it will test a mobile-wallet service in Singapore with NTT DoCoMo, Japan's largest mobile-network operator. The service enables customers to make contactless payments with their mobile phones. "We are looking at a wide variety of services, [including] transit, e-purse, credit cards [and] loyalty cards, that can be loaded onto the phone with ease," a StarHub spokesperson tells CardLine Global. "We are working out the details with our partners, and [we will announce] more details later." StarHub has tested Near Field Communication technology with EZ-Link, a Singapore-based contactless transit card scheme. "We are working closely with EZ-Link to explore the integration of the transit application[into] the mobile wallet pilot," the spokesperson says. "We will also continue to work toward offering mobile-wallet services on NFC-enabled handsets when such handsets become available for commercial use."
