Mobile commerce provider Spindle has named a new vice president for its affiliate marketing program.

Michael Buchanan, who has worked more than 10 years in digital marketing, will be responsible to recruit national retailers and other merchants to enroll in Spindle's mobile marketing service "Yowza!! Offers," which is a platform that connects consumers and merchants through customized coupons and promotions.

Buchanan will also introduce technologies to Yowza such as in-store beaconing, an open API interface that provides integration for developers, in-store mobile redemption, tracking of customer purchases and data analytics, the Scottsdale, Ariz.-based Spindle says in a June 9 press release.    

"Michael is respected as a visionary in the affiliate marketing and m-commerce fields and his acumen will be instrumental in Spindle's efforts to develop a sophisticated, versatile and inventive merchant platform," says Bill Clark, chief executive officer at Spindle, in the release. "We are confident that he will drive significant growth in Spindle's affiliate program and advance our revenue-sharing model, which is gaining momentum through a variety of partner channels."
