Staples Inc. earlier this month began offering its customers the option to deposit certain store rebates into their PayPal accounts, a spokesperson for the Framingham, Mass.-based retailers confirms to PaymentsSource.

As of Oct. 7, customers could opt to deposit any rebates less than $10 into their PayPal account. “Check is the primary method, but customers may choose the PayPal option if they wish,” says spokesperson Amy Shanler, citing added customer convenience as the reason for adding the PayPal option.

Shanler declined to say how many rebates Staples typically handles or predict how much customers would deposit into PayPal accounts.

Parago Inc., a rewards-program provider, is administering the program. The Lewisville, Texas-based company in June announced plans to give its business customers the option to have rebates deposited directly into accounts held by PayPal Inc. (see story).
