San Francisco-based payments startup Stripe has launched in Australia and is reportedly testing its technology in Scandinavian countries.

Australia is Stripe's first country in the Asia-Pacific region, Stripe said in a blog post dated July 22. Stripe ran a beta test with Canva, LIFX, Sitepoint, BlueChilli and Flightfox, and formally launched its service in the country today. It has six Australian employees and hiring in Melbourne and Sydney.

Stripe is also testing its service in in Denmark, Norway and Sweden, Reuters reported.  Stripe's international efforts also include a partnership with Alipay in China. Stripe's online and mobile multi-currency payments technology is also available in the U.S., Canada, the U.K. and Ireland.
