HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. – Don’t seek immediate gain when networking with colleagues, an executive advised here Wednesday at the Western States Acquirers 2012 Conference.
Instead, always think about helping the person with whom you’re networking, Greg Leos, Sysnet Global Solutions president, North America, urged attendees.
“Be a connector” who brings people together, Leos said in a session at the conference’s Field Guide for ISOs.
The benefits of that altruism may come back to you in ways you hadn’t anticipated, he suggested.
At the same time, it pays to plan ahead, according to Leos. When attending a trade show, decide in advance what you hope to accomplish through networking.
