Cybersecurity provider Thales e-Security Inc. has developed software to monitor and manage hardware security modules at different physical locations within a company's network.
The product, called CipherTrust, allows network operations teams constant visibility of the operating status of Thales HSMs in private or public clouds across multiple locations.
The system enables an operator to remotely manage the security modules in a manner similar to managing IT equipment in data centers, allowing them to respond immediately to potential security or performance issues.
“As new applications expand, there is a growing need for higher levels of data protection and trust leading to organizations deploying HSMs across data centers and in the cloud," Cindy Provin, president of Thales e-Security, said in a Nov. 10 press release.
Because of the increased complexity of IT security systems and an increase in penalties for downtime, operations staff need tools that automatically deliver information about potential issues, Provin said.
"CipherTrust delivers visibility across groups of HSMs, allowing operations staff, rather than security staff, to monitor alerts and proactively respond to any issues,” she added.
Future versions of CipherTrust will support additional Thales products, including the Thales nShield multi-purpose HSMs.
