The Electronic Transactions Association has given Total Merchant Services CEO Joe Kaplan a spot on the association's advisory council.
Kaplan will also have a non-voting seat on the ETA board. In addition, the ETA appointed Paul Rosenfeld, vice president and general manager of Total Merchant Services, to its mobile payments committee for 2014, the trade association states in a Jan. 27 press release.
Rosenfeld, who heads Total Merchant Services' Fanminder division, will have a one-year term with the mobile payments committee, which seeks to facilitate global e-commerce.
"As a member of the president's advisory council, I am excited to be a part of an industry undergoing such dramatic transformation," Kaplan states in the release. "I look forward to bringing new and exciting ideas to the council, and fostering business relationships in the payment processing industry."
In addition to his CEO role at Woodland Hills, Calif.-based Total Merchant Services, Kaplan is the founder and director of Superior Financial Group. He has more than 20 years of experience in the payment and financial industries.
Before joining Total, Kaplan was founder and CEO of Innovative Merchant Solutions and Innovative Gateway Solutions, which were both sold to Intuit in 2003. Kaplan worked at Intuit as president of its payment solutions division until 2009. In 2008, Kaplan was elected the president of the ETA.
Rosenfeld was co-founder and CEO of Fanminder, a software-as-a-service product designed to help small merchants handle mobile and social offers. Total Merchant Services bought Fanminder in 2012. Rosenfeld's experience also includes executive roles at Intuit, American Express, AccountNow and Digital Insight.
