The ATM Industry Association and IPayments Forum have created WikiATM.com, an online repository of ATM information.
“The purpose of WikiATM.com is to create a definitive body of knowledge on all aspects of the ATM and to promote cross-channel integrated payments with the ATM serving as the hub for financial self-service retail delivery,” the groups said in an April 5 press release.
Exchanging information on the site could help industry players keep pace with changes in the business, the groups said.
“The payments industry is at a crossroads with new emerging electronic payments options and potentially disruptive technologies that threaten to marginalize traditional payments channels,” they said.
WikiATM.com, a best-practices portal, is open to anyone in the industry but requires registration, the release said.
As a wiki the site allows users to add and modify content via a web browser using a simplified markup language or a rich-text editor. “Wiki,” the groups noted in the release, is the Hawaiian word for “quick.”
The ATM Industry Association has more than 3,700 members in 60 countries, and the IPayments Forum is a financial services online community.
