Tesco Bank in Edinburgh, Scotland, has refunded 2.5 million pounds (about $3 million) to 9,000 customers who were affected by a large-scale online banking cybertheft last weekend.

In a statement, the bank said it has resumed full service following its temporary suspension of online transactions.

"We've now refunded all customer accounts affected by fraud and lifted the suspension of online debit transactions so that customers can use their accounts as normal," said CEO Benny Higgins. "We're also keen to reassure our customers that none of their personal data has been compromised."

The bank also said it is working with authorities and regulators in their criminal investigation of the incident.
