Paul Burmester has been appointed the new CEO of telecommunications-based fraud prevention software provider ValidSoft Ltd., replacing Pat Carroll, who will serve as the company's executive chairman.
Carroll will succeed Phil Hickman, who served a double role as executive chairman of ValidSoft and a member of the Elephant Talk Communications Corp. board of directors. Ireland-based Valid Soft operates as a unit of Elephant Talk.
Burmester had previous development and senior management leadership roles with companies in the IT, multimedia, telco and wireless industries, ValidSoft states in a Nov. 8 press release.
"The board set high standards in selecting ValidSoft's next CEO," says Steven van der Velden, chairman and CEO of Elephant Talk. "Paul brings to ValidSoft an outstanding record of success in developing emerging technology growth companies through to successful mainstream market recognition."
Carroll says the company will be in good hands with Burmester as CEO.
"I believe he has the ideal skill-set to lead our company through the next phase of commercialization," Carroll states in the release.
ValidSoft provides various mobile and cloud-based security services, including proximity-based verification in which a consumer's registered payment card and mobile phone number are used to monitor the user's whereabouts at the time a payment is made.
Earlier this week, FICO announced it would provide a fraud-protection service in the U.K. using ValidSoft's proximity location technology.
