The payment terminal maker VeriFone announced the nomination of Jonathan I. Schwartz to its board of directors and that two of its current board members, Leslie Denend and Jeff Stiefler, will not stand for reelection.
Schwartz is president and CEO of CareZone Inc., which provides a mobile application for family caregivers. He previously served as CEO of Sun Microsystems.
If approved, Schwartz "will serve as a valuable resource in helping VeriFone evolve as a company, enable the next generation of commerce, and meet our clients needs in this changing payments landscape," says VeriFone CEO Paul Galant in a May 6 press release.
Denend is the board's current chairman. Former MasterCard CEO Pete Hart, a current VeriFone board member, will take over as chairman if he is elected at the San Jose, Calif., company's June 17 annual meeting of stockholders.
