Verifone has extended its partnership with Worldpay, allowing the terminal manufacturer to provide point of sale software and hardware to Worldpay customers in the U.K.
In addition to distributing the newest Verifone portable POS products to its customers, Worldpay will also work with Verifone to provide point-to-point encryption security services and multi-communication devices.
"Verifone is perfectly positioned to help Worldpay assist their clients in growing their businesses," June Felix, president of Verifone Europe, stated in a Nov. 28 press release.
Worldpay and Verifone will focus on getting Verifone's VX690 portable POS into the hands of merchants, because it offers three services – WiFi, geolocation and 3G connectivity — that merchants typically have to obtain and pay for separately, Felix said. The Verifone terminals accept mobile wallets and traditional payment cards.
The partnership has helped Worldpay provide merchants with technology that helps grow their businesses by supporting payment acceptance across all channels, Dave Hobday, managing director of Worldpay U.K., stated in the release.
"Becoming the first acquirer to offer point-to-point encryption version 2 for our omni-channel solution has been a key focus for our business," Hobday said. "By working closely with partners like Verifone, we aim to provide retailers with best-in-class security while relieving the burden of PCI [data security standard] compliance."
Three months ago, Worldpay similarly renewed its partnership with Ingenico to distribute its terminals and increase in-store digital technology for Worldpay customers.
