Crowdfunding platform provider Veterans Call has launched a payment application that allows users to donate to veteran charities from their mobile phones and pay through their phone bill.
Nonprofit telecommunications aggregator Mobile Giving Foundation provides the carrier billing service for iPhones and Android devices through AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile and Sprint.
Donors receive in-app push alerts through the Veterans Call app from charities regarding their initiatives, including real-time fundraising campaigns, donor perks or volunteer opportunities. Users choose their charity and donation amount, then click for a payment to be charged to their mobile phone.
“Veterans Call democratizes philanthropy by connecting anyone with a mobile phone to their passion causes, facilitating low-impact $5 and $10 recurring micro-donations,” Dylan Breslin-Barnhart, vice president of North America for Activistic, the parent company of Veterans Call, stated in a press release.
Veteran charities on the app include Armed Services YMCA of San Diego, Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America, National Military Family Association and Veterans of Foreign Wars National Home for Children.
Veterans Call launched the app at a party on Dec. 7 to honor Pearl Harbor on the historic USS Intrepid in New York City.
