Westpac Banking Corp. will buy $50 million worth of Hypercom Corp. products and services over the next five years, the point-of-sale device maker announced this week. Hypercom says the 1,200-branch bank will buy "thousands" of its Optimum T4210, T4220, T4230 and M4230 terminals, and Hypercom will provide service for 80,000 terminals Australia-based Westpac manages. U.S.-based Hypercom would not say how many terminals the bank will buy, but it "anticipates they will purchase tens of thousands of them." A Hypercom spokesperson says the contract "represents a huge market-share gain for Hypercom in Australia and New Zealand."
