The American Bankers Association on May 2 announced that Edward L. Yingling officially has taken over as president and CEO, replacing Donald G. Ogilvie, who retired in April. Yingling previously led the association's staff group responsible for the association's legislative, legal, regulatory, tax and policy-development activities.
  HSBC-North America has appointed Joseph W. Hoff as chief executive of the company's retail services business. Hoff will oversee the day-to-day operational and sales efforts in the company's private-label credit card business. Hoff was named chief financial officer of the retail services business in 1996.
  Mary Beth Joiner, previously vice president of payer products for WebMD Corp.'s Business Services Division, has been appointed senior vice president, emerging markets, at LINK2GOV Corp. The Nashville-based processor's products enable point-of-sale and online processing of consumer credit and debit transactions for federal, state and local governments across the country, including the IRS.
