Stan Paur, who has led the Houston-based Pulse electronic funds transfer network for more than 23 years, will become Pulse chairman effective March 31, the network's parent, Discover Financial Services, announced. As part of the move, David Schneider, Pulse executive vice president and chief corporate development officer, will succeed Paur as Pulse president and CEO.
Lin Johnson recently was named CEO of Passmark Security, a Menlo Park, Calif.-based provider of authentication services for online banking and e-commerce. Recruited from London, Johnson most recently was a consultant to a venture capital company. Passmark also named Jeff Scheel as corporate development officer. Scheel previously was president and CEO of Vocent, a provider of voice-based security systems.
Steven Van Fleet has been named president and CEO of RewardsNow, a Dover, N.H.-based provider of loyalty marketing financial services. Before joining RewardsNow as senior vice president in October 2005, Van Fleet was senior vice president of product management/marketing at First Data Corp. Van Fleet succeeds Duane Kimball, who has assumed the role of vice chairman.
The Center for Business Solutions, a Steamboat Springs, Colo.-based provider of operational assessments and other services for collection and customer-service operations, has named Dick Evans as president and chief operating officer. Evans previously was senior vice president in charge of collections at Metris Cos., a Minnetonka, Minn.-based bankcard issuer. Ralph Ripley, formerly CBS president and COO, has taken over the duties as CEO.
VivoTech, a Santa Clara, Calif.-based supplier of contactless payment systems, has added three new executives. David Fiore, who previously managed his own consulting practice, was named chief financial officer. Peter Slocum was named senior vice president of engineering. He previously was vice president of engineering operations at Brocade Communications. Todd Ablowitz, formerly with First Data Corp., was appointed senior vice president of sales.
Pentagroup Financial LLC, a Houston-based provider of accounts-receivable management, has hired Jeff Ivey as senior vice president of business development. Ivey, who has 20 years experience in the collections industry, most recently was CEO of Champion Financial Services.
