WorldPay opened its first China sales office to help it reach more merchants who accept payments online.

The new sales office will offer all of the London-based company's customer-facing e-commerce services such as relationship management and corporate support. Tang Kok San, vice president of Chinese business development for WorldPay, will manage this facility.

"The Chinese e-commerce market is growing rapidly and there is huge interest from merchants to pursue international opportunities," says Ron Kalifa, vice chairman of WorldPay, in an April 17 news release.  "However, the global e-commerce landscape is complex, so it's important that businesses seek advice from an experienced international payments provider to successfully navigate new territories."

Payments solutions provider WorldPay currently has partnerships with some of China's largest payments brands including Alipay and China UnionPay.
