WorldRemit is working with China-based handset maker Huawei Technologies to make WorldRemit’s money transfer service available on Huawei’s platform in Africa.
Huawei, which supports 100 million mobile accounts, will add WorldRemit’s international money-transfer service to its existing menu, the companies said in a Tuesday press release.
WorldRemit is the first global remittance company to partner with Huawei, a fast-growing maker of wireless handsets deployed in more than 100 countries, and the partnership aims to ease the challenges of technical integration of remittance services, according to the announcement.
“Our partnership with WorldRemit will bring international remittances directly to Huawei’s customers across the (African) continent,” said David Chen, Huawei’s vice president of Southern Africa, in a release.
London-based WorldRemit has been extending its reach to regions of Africa over the past year through partnerships with banks.
