Automatic teller machines (ATMs) may be prohibited at Australian gambling venues. The ban is being considered by the Ministerial Council on Gambling, which met on 25 July 2008 for the first time in two years. Access to cash by gamblers will also be considered by state and federal gambling ministers. There are plans to ban ATMs in Victoria after Tatts Group and Tabcorp lose their licence over 13,750 poker machines each. Tony Robinson, the Victorian Gaming Minister, says he hopes other jurisdictions will follow suit
