Xoom Corp. has expanded its bill-paying services in the Philippines through a partnership with the Bayad Center.

San Francisco-based Xoom offer Filipinos international money transfer services at Bayad locations throughout the country, Xoom announced Nov. 4.

Xoom customers can send money via mobile phone, tablet or computer for cash pickups at more than 200 Bayad Center locations. The addition of Bayad Center this week increases the number of Xoom cash pick up locations to more than 13,500 in the Philippines, according to a press release.

"Bayad Center is a well-known brand and many Filipinos pay their bills at Bayad Centers, making this a very convenient way for Xoom customers to pick up cash," Julian King, Xoom's senior vice president of marketing and corporate development, states in the release.

More than 997,000 active customers sent more than $5.1 billion to family and friends in 30 countries in the 12-month period that ended Sept. 30, Xoom says.

Xoom introduced its Pay Only When Received system in March, a model in which Xoom does not take funds from a sender until it delivers them to the recipient. The service builds on StatusTrak, which allows Xoom customers to track the status of a transfer through self-service channels.
